$1000 Walmart Gift Card: Most Popular Offer

The $1000 Walmart gift card is the most popular gift card on the Free Gift Card wiki.  It is the most popular in terms of people visiting the offer and the most popular in terms of people actually following through on the offer.

The Walmart gift card has, across a network of people promoting it, done very well over the past several months.  This is probably due mostly to the high reward value of $1000.

Tips for Claiming a Free Gift Card

Free gift cards are a reward for participating in a series of promotional offers.  The reward isn't really free in terms of time or money but the cost is often very small compared to the reward.  The typical promotional offers required by the gift card sponsors include a large number of free trials where they are totally free.  Then there are a large number of free trials where a physical product is shipped to you and, should you return the product, you are stuck paying a shipping and handling fee of less than $10.

All told the price in terms of time and money for a large gift card like the $1000 Walmart card is fairly minimal.  To prove this I recently assessed the Walmart gift card to find out a few things.  I wanted to know:

  • How long did the initial research take?
  • How much would it cost me to get the "free" gift card?
  • How long did I usually have to decide to cancel or return a product from these free trials?

How long did the initial research take?

All told it will take me longer to post this Hub than the initial research took.  Here are the steps:

  1. Enter a disposable email at the beginning
  2. View the offer levels and save the promotional offer information in a spreadsheet
  3. Visit each offer looking for the "Terms of the Offer" or "Terms & Conditions"; note the initial price, days to refund/cancellation, and the price should you decide not to cancel
  4. Assess all the offers from each level to determine the minimum amount of money you can spend in order to get your gift card

Spreadsheet Details

My spreadsheet had 4 workbooks:

  • Offer Requirements (for the Walmart gift card they are 2 from Level 1, 2 from Level 2, and 9 from Level 3)
  • Level 1 Offers
  • Level 2 Offers
  • Level 3 Offers
In each "Offers" workbook I have a column:
  • Offer Name
  • Initial Price
  • Expected Refund
  • Comments
The comments column is where I keep tabs of the "Days to Cancel/Refund" and the monthly price if I don't cancel.

$1000 Walmart Gift Card: Final Assessment

In the final assessment of the Walmart gift card I found that I could sign up for

  • 2 programs in Level 1 for a cost of $1.00 with an expected refund of $1.00
  • 2 programs in Level 2 for a cost of $0.00
  • 9 programs in Level 3 for a cost of $199.53 with an expected refund of $148.95
Total cost at the end was some time and $50.58.  Now even if I never received a penny in refund spending $200.53 to get a $1000 gift card to Walmart is still a pretty good deal.

@Erin C

I'm sorry you felt that way.

I make certain assumptions about what you know about these offers for this Hub. However, my site explains in detail what info you will have to give up for most offers, what steps you will likely have to complete and why. I even explain the profit structure of the sites offering these promotions.

All of these things and more are explained in the Tips & Tricks category on the site.

that giftcard crap is a scam its linked to a webbot that automatically downloads viruses into your computer McAfee and Windowsdefender proved it

I doubt that. Not that possibility of a scam but you've painted with a pretty broad brush. The Walmart giftcard that I originally mentioned has come and gone. And there have been several replacements by different promoters over the past 12+ months.

My email address on the wiki. I have yet to receive a complaint about any of the Walmart giftcard offers on my site.

Do some gift card offers download viruses? Probably. I haven't found one but it wouldn't surprise me that some do.

I get paid when you sign up for these gift card offers. My site couldn't stay in biz or off the malware radar if all my links sent you to sites that downloaded viruses and malware to your PC. The companies that provide these offers to me are in the US and Canada meaning there are a lot of laws and regulations regarding their behavior. If you go through a site in China or Africa you are taking your own life in your hands. There is nothing stopping those people from stealing info from your hard drive, bald face lying to you, etc.

That said, your a fool if you surf the web without proper anti-virus/firewall protection. Viruses are the least of your worries. And when I research these offers and this topic I occasionally come across bookmarking sites, freebie offer sites, etc. that set off my Trend Micro malware alert. And Trend's firewall keeps me from visiting those sites without doing everything short of shutting it down.

When I have the time I go out and research the companies as much as possible. That said, there almost never any reviews - good or bad - for most of the companies. Occasionally, I will find one that McAffee states downloads malware and that is included in my company review. And as soon as I find that kind of review I pull any offers I can find from that domain and any other domains I can find that might be linked to that domain. That's part of the reason I haven't updated my site in a while - it's really, really, really time consuming.
